OUR PRIORITIES
Our Impact Goals for 2026
This year the Snake River Fund has already realized or is working towards:
- Flat Creek Greenspace Project: A partnership with local businesses to beautify, improve, and protect Flat Creek as it meanders through town.
- Snake River Headwaters Data Dashboard: A comprehensive clearinghouse of water quality and quantity data across the Snake River Headwaters to be used by recreationalists, water managers, and agency partners for better stewardship of the watershed.
- Saving Lives on the River: SRF will procure and place 2 new AEDs at our communities busiest boat ramps: Wilson and South Park. It’s estimated that AEDs save over 1,700 lives a year! We’re also expanding our Loaner Lifejacket Kiosk Program into Grand Teton National Park in partnership with the Grand Teton National Park Foundation.
- Bridger Teton National Forest Planning Process: SRF is working closely to monitor the Forest Plan revision process and keep the community educated. We’re at the forefront of advocacy for Wild and Scenic River Protections, and preservation of recreational access management on the Forest. We expect draft planning documents to be released by the Forest in Q2 of 2026.
- Teton County BLM Parcel Transfers: SRF works tirelessly to ensure that Teton County’s BLM parcels remain available for open space, wildlife habitat, and compatible recreation. Many parcels are closer to transfer than they’ve ever been. Our work revolves around community engagement to keep these treasures of public lands in public hands.
- 500+ Program Participants: SRF breaks down barriers to river access for folks from all over the world! Keep tabs on our social media to learn about who we’re getting on the water on any given week.
- Monitoring on the Watershed: We work closely with regional and federal agency partners to maintain and improve water quality and quantity monitoring on our watershed’s Wild and Scenic Rivers
- Educating the Next Generation of Stewards: Our classroom curriculum is more robust than ever! SRF staff have lessons planned with every elementary school in Jackson Hole in 2026.
- Educating our Guiding Community: The river guides of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem are the cornerstone of our economy and the tip of the spear for inspiring conservation in visitors. In 2026, SRF is launching our online Guide Education Curriculum providing guides with the tools they need to be leaders in interpretation, stewardship, and education.
Stewardship
Snake River Fund protects the Snake River watershed in Wyoming, preserving its ecosystem and biodiversity for future generations. It’s one of the few U.S. rivers with Wild & Scenic designation.
Access
We are dedicated to promoting public access to the Snake River watershed—helping agencies fund boat ramp repairs, provide specialized training, and keep the community’s favorite river spots public.
Education
We inspire all ages to explore and appreciate the Snake River and its tributaries. Through hands-on educational programs, we connect kids, students, river guides, and the broader community with the river’s natural beauty and importance.
Partnerships
Snake River Fund connects people for the benefit of both the river and the community. We have a unique ability to turn every contribution into meaningful impact—thanks to strong partnerships and a solution-oriented approach.
